CHRISTIAN HEALING MINISTRIES offers a powerful PRAYER for a mother’s blessing (in a situation where the person has not always felt the mother’s love).

Quote from Christian Healing Ministries:

“From the moment of conception and throughout the formative years of childhood, the love and care of our mother and father play a critical role in our development. Unfortunately, in our fallen humanity, there are no perfect parents. Subsequently, many people carry wounds or voids they incurred early in life from one or both of their parents, such as unmet needs, absence, neglect, harsh words, or abusive behavior etc. Nevertheless, through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Lord can go back and fill in any of those wounds with His perfect love. In an atmosphere of prayer, it is often quite powerful to have prayer ministers stand in the place of earthly parents to offer a loving hug and any words of affirmation the Lord would like to speak to this person.”

RANSOMED HEART MINISTRIES: CAPTIVATING WOMAN: Living From a Free Heart.  We can find healing for our brokenness and freedom from the strongholds the enemy has gained in our lives. We were born into a world at war—our lives are opposed, along with our love, hopes, dreams, relationships. Learn how to participate with Christ in your freedom by breaking the agreements you have been making with the enemy. Instead make an internal choice to let Christ so invade your heart that you cannot be held to any sort of bondage internally. Choose love, forgiveness, life.

From the “Introduction” to Journeys to Mother Love* : (These apply to adult children seeking healing of mother wounds.)

•  Acknowledge that the child within is hurting
•  Allow Jesus into the picture
•  Receive “new eyes” to see that your mother (and  father) also had within her a  hurting child
•  Make choices to forgive your mother and to be renewed in your own mothering
•  Experience new appreciation for your mother (and/or father, child, sibling)
•  Enjoy fellowship with your mother (and/or father, child, sibling)

Much has been written about “father wounds.” But our mothers are in many ways the ground of our beings….

God instituted motherhood and created the powerful force of “mother love.” Because his own nurturing, protective, life-giving love for us is exemplified in the love of a mother for her child, the Lord is working in our mother-child relationships to make them a more true representation, a clearer picture of his love. He makes a way for us to experience deep healing, even—as the experiences of these nine women illustrate—when death, disease, disobedience, or distance has separated us from our mothers.

God’s love—often made tangible in mother love—is that strong!

God the Father has described his own nurturing character in terms of a mother’s love for her children:

“As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you” (Isaiah 66:13a, NRSV).

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” (Isaiah 49:15, NIV).

“I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. To them I was like one who lifts a little child to the cheek, and I bent down to feed them” (Hosea 11:4, NIV).

“He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge” (Psalm 91:4a, NIV).

“He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft … [But] You deserted the Rock, who fathered you; you forgot the God who gave you birth” (Deuteronomy 32:10b-11 & 18, NIV).

And Jesus said: “How often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings….” (Luke 13:34, NIV).
